Sunday Drivers

Sadly there was no Sunday Drivers this weekend.  We were busy working about the property all day, then went to Mooshum's and Kookum's for a fantastic supper!

We did go down to the Foote Family Farm on Saturday afternoon, though.  Every Friday they make fresh sweet cider from their very own apples!  We purchased a few litres fresh pressed apple cider and a one litre bottle of cranberry juice.  Although the cranberry and blueberry juices were squeezed then frozen at the peak of freshness, those berries were not from their farm.

The place was impressive nonetheless.  I have really come to enjoy the smell of apples wafting from the local farm-market and various warehouses about the valley, and this farm was no exception!  As soon as you walk in the door, the homey smell of last fall's apple crop welcomes you into their small shop.  The sweet cider is in the back, poured right from the vat and chilled to perfection in the crisp spring air!

The Foote farm also sells bee-keeping equipment and the faint, yet delectable aroma of honey sweetened the apple-scented breeze.

I'm not sure what I was thinking when I poured myself a glass of half cranberry-half water, this morning but holy crap!  I thought my mouth was going to shrivel up and fall off!  At Laura's suggestion, I mixed it with some apple cider and a bit of sugar - pretty darn good!

Boy is going to a day-camp run by the Recreation Department during March break.  Apparently he was a bit confused, because when I picked him up this afternoon he very earnestly asked me, "Mommy, when do we get to go camping?"
